What took you two so long to get married?

Teleophobia. This phobia affects one in every eight hundred and forty-four Americans, and is defined as a fear of definite plans and/or religious ceremonies. We have been utterly committed to one another throughout our two years of initial dating and our subsequent four years of engagement. Unfortunately, we have been unable to demonstrate our love and commitment in the form of a wedding due to our joint suffering of fear of ceremonial planning. However, with counseling and the loving support of friends and family, we have taken that first, oh so important, step, namely the payment of a sizable non-refundable deposit. And, with your continued support and prompt RSVPs, we believe we will find the strength to beat this debilitating psychological condition.

Are you having a casual attire wedding?

Nope we are not having a casual wedding, Jamie will be in a tux, and Natalie will be in a beautiful wedding dress. So we expect you will look your nicest too.

Your wedding is on a boat? I get sea sick. What if I'm late to the wedding, can I get on?

OK first you need to take a deep breath, and calm down. The Skansonia is an old ferry boat that has been permanently docked (as in it doesn't go anywhere anymore) in the very calm waters of Seattle's picturesque Lake Union.

What do I have to do to sign up for a hotel room?

Is transportation to the ceremony being provided?

We will be using the facilities of the hotel to shuttle people to the Skansonia on the night of the wedding. Check our the accommodations page for more detailed information.

What are your wedding colors?

A few months ago I was a bridesmaid in a wedding. In accessorizing my outfit, I found myself in a discussion with the bride as to whether a pair of nylons was lilac or pale orchid in color. I knew at that moment that I wanted nothing to do with the traditional picking of wedding colors.

If you have no wedding colors, what are you bridesmaids wearing?

Black.

Black?

Yes, black.

But, isn't black really more, you know, a funeral color?

Black is a color of elegance. Black is the color of the men's tuxes. Black is a color that is flattering to almost everyone. And if black is also, in this case, a mourning color, then we just hope the bridesmaids don't pick the "if anyone here has any reason why these two should not be joined" portion of the ceremony to mention it.

Where are you going on your honeymoon?

We're goin' to Europe! Specifically, London and Paris where we will relax and take in the sights.

Will Natalie be adopting the groom's last name?

Natalie refuses to succumb to the patriachal demands of Judeo-Christian based male dominanated society. She chooses to follow in her mother's footsteps and cling to the identity she has held her whole life. Well, that and she lives in deathly fear of the paperwork involved.

When are you thinking of having kids?

We have discussed this issue seriously and at great length and have come to the following conclusion: We get to throw the first person who asks us any variation of this question into Lake Union. Look, we will make you a deal. When it happens, each and every one of you will be among the first to know.

What is with the cranes on your web site?

We are folding one thousand origami cranes in preparation for our wedding day to be used as decoration. Cranes are a symbol of many different things in Japanese tradition. They are known as a symbol of dedication. A bride who wishes to show her commitment to the union does so by folding one thousand cranes. It is said that whomever folds a thousand cranes is granted a single wish. Cranes are known as symbols of prosperity and happiness. And the crane is also a symbol of peace. After the ceremony, we will be donating our thousand cranes in memory of the victims of the September 11th attack.
