We are both urban professionals spending our days toiling away at the office so that we can have our fun in the evenings and weekends. Jamie is a Software Engineer at InfoSpace. His job is to maintain and improve the software that sells web space (like this one). Natalie is an Office Manager at WRMS Engineering and Architectural Engineering firm in downtown Seattle. In our free time we both enjoy the theater in all its different forms. This year we have tickets to the shows at the The Seattle Repertory Theatre. We also enjoy spending time camping, and are pretty sure we would enjoy golfing, if only we could find the time (and the talent) to do so! Our big hobby, however, would have to be our condo. Last year we completely remodeled our study, and this year we hope to tackle the master bedroom.
Natalie and I met in college at the University of Idaho. We are both people that tend to take our time in making new friends. When we found a group of friends that we enjoyed being with they really started to stick. Natalie was one of the few females in this group so I took it upon myself to get to know her a little better. We first really started to talk via quickly sent emails while we were studying in our dorm rooms. I'd send a quick email to her and she would respond quickly with another and I would respond as fast as I could. We would have "almost live" conversations like this for quite long periods of time. It didn't take long for me to realize how much fun and excitement Natalie could be and I started to fall in love. Once I realized this I decided that taking to someone over email who was just a couple hundred meters away (while cool) wasn't really the best mode of communication. I invited Natalie over one night and told her how I felt about her and she agreed and we have been getting to know each other since. It was about two years later, on Valentine's Day of senior year. I was having a bad day. We had driven with some friends to the nearest city, about two hours away, for a day of shopping and dinner and entertainment, or so I thought. Some how though, the whole dinner and entertainment part got skipped over and we all left town again after two not so fun filled hours at the mall. When we got back to Moscow, I was very hungry and very cranky, and Jamie knew it. He took me out to dinner to this local Chinese place where the food was, frankly, awful and by the time we were finished I just wanted to crawl into bed and pretend the day had never happened. Jamie insisted, however that we go for a walk. So, we strolled to the park and looked at the stars and before I knew it, Jamie was on one knee asking me to marry him. To this day I don't know if he planned it, or was just trying to put me in a good mood, but we have been engaged ever since. |
